Czechia secured their first win of the 2025 World Deaf Ice Hockey Championships with a dominant 15–5 victory over Hungary at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.

Czechia came out flying, scoring nine goals in the first period to build a commanding lead.

  • Tomas Hartinger opened the scoring just under a minute in, assisted by Nikolas Tyls and Jakub Stajer.
  • Tomas Bakrlik, Tomas Vaclavik, Jiri Filipi, Michal Stojka, Jakub Stajer, Vaclav Beranek, Milan Novotny, and David Hurny all added first-period goals to complete an overwhelming start.

Hungary was held off the board through the first period but responded in the second. Peter Szemerei scored four consecutive goals for Hungary, showing resilience despite the early deficit. He scored at 17:53, 3:41, 0:31, and 0:02 of the second period, with assists coming from Adam Kern, Benjamin Fekete, and Oliver Szarvas on the later goals.

Czechia added five more goals in the second and third periods:

  • Tomas Bakrlik, Anagnostis Spatharis, Nikolas Tyls, Milan Novotny, and Vojtech Kobr all found the back of the net.

In the third period, Hungary scored once more, with Adam Kern finishing a play assisted by Peter Szemerei and Peter Zima at 0:45.

Czech goaltender Tomas Martinek stopped 10 shots in the win, while Hungarian goaltender Kevin Zsolt Zatyko faced heavy pressure and made 22 saves.
